Ahrefs Brand Radar Alternatives: A Reliable AI Visibility Guide

There is no universal winner among Ahrefs Brand Radar alternatives. The right choice depends on the measurement job: broad AI visibility discovery, repeatable monitoring of prompts you control, or a one-time diagnostic. A team checking 25 comparison prompts across several models needs a different product from an SEO team seeking discovery reporting or a marketer establishing a baseline.

Use this sequence: define the job, identify required engines and prompt controls, inspect the evidence and reporting cadence, then confirm access and price for the exact plan. A dashboard score alone does not show that two tools measured the same prompts, models, periods, or denominators.

Some market context is useful, but it needs careful qualification. A March 2026 G2 survey of 1,076 B2B software buyers and decision-makers found that 51% reported starting research with an AI chatbot more often than Google, while 71% reported using chatbots somewhere in software research. These are survey findings from a defined sample, not universal behavior data. Read G2’s survey and methodology.

Which Ahrefs Brand Radar alternative should you choose?

Start with the evidence you need to operate, not the feature list you can collect. These are fit hypotheses based on vendor-described capabilities, not independent rankings of accuracy or business results.

  • Consider Ahrefs if your team already works in Ahrefs and wants SEO discovery context alongside Custom Prompts. Treat its AI Visibility Index and Custom Prompts as distinct product functions with separate pricing paths.
  • Consider HubSpot AEO when prompt tracking, recommendations, and the available HubSpot CRM context fit your marketing workflow. Standalone AEO does not require another HubSpot subscription, while HubSpot describes expanded CRM-connected capabilities for Marketing Hub Professional and Enterprise.
  • Consider Peec AI when daily, multi-model tracking, projects, and reporting capacity are central to the requirement.
  • Consider Xofu when commercial-intent prompts, project workflows, and plan-dependent reporting cadence matter more than broad discovery.
  • Evaluate Profound after a plan conversation if you need enterprise-scale access. Its current public pricing page shows Trial and custom Enterprise packaging, so confirm coverage and entitlements for the quote.
  • Use Mangools AI Search Grader for a diagnostic, not as evidence of ongoing monitoring. Its official page contains an unresolved mismatch between the stated model count and the models it lists.

Choose the measurement job first. Discovery, controlled prompt monitoring, and a one-time diagnostic produce different kinds of evidence.

Compare alternatives by the evidence they produce

Use the table to create a shortlist, then check every claim against the plan you would actually buy. “Verify” means obtain a clear answer from the vendor. Do not treat an undocumented feature as included.

Tool Strongest documented fit Verify before buying
Ahrefs Brand Radar SEO teams seeking discovery and index reporting plus Custom Prompts. Ahrefs documents Custom Prompts across Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Copilot on Lite or higher plans. Confirm whether you need Custom Prompts, the AI Visibility Index, or both. They have different starting-price paths. Also confirm prompt allowances, evidence access, and plan terms.
HubSpot AEO Prompt tracking, citations, visibility, sentiment, and recommendations for ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity. Standalone AEO is available without another HubSpot subscription. Confirm current prompt limits, trial and subscription terms, and which CRM-connected capabilities are included in the chosen product and plan.
Peec AI Daily tracking on listed brand plans, with Starter, Pro, Advanced, and Enterprise tiers and plan-dependent prompt, project, model, and reporting capacity. Confirm live price, selected models, geographic requirements, and available exports or reporting features. The public pricing page displays pricing dynamically.
Xofu Commercial-intent prompt workflows. Its current page lists ChatGPT 5.6, Google AI Overview, Google AI Mode, and Gemini, with plan-specific differences. Confirm prompts per model and reporting cadence. Higher prompt capacity does not necessarily mean daily reports.
Profound Enterprise evaluation where tailored prompt tracking and broader answer-engine access may be relevant. Confirm current model access, exports, API access, integrations, and other entitlements in the actual quote. The public page shows Trial and custom Enterprise packaging.
Mangools AI Search Grader Free diagnostic with an AI Search Score, visibility and ranking measures, and competitor analysis. It is a diagnostic, not a continuous tracker. The official page claims seven models but enumerates six, so ask Mangools to resolve the discrepancy.

For each candidate, record the required engine and model, prompt allowance, reporting frequency, region and language options, raw-response and citation access, history retention, export or API terms, and total price for the required configuration. Mark unknowns as “confirm with vendor.”

Two free diagnostics belong in a baseline workflow, not automatically in a monitoring shortlist. HubSpot AI Search Grader is a free, one-time diagnostic across ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini. Mangools AI Search Grader is also positioned as a free diagnostic. Neither should be presented as a continuous trend line without separate evidence.

Why observation-level data matters more than a headline visibility score

An observation is a result for a particular prompt version, engine, model, locale, region, and run time. A visibility or share-of-voice score is an aggregate calculated over a defined prompt set, period, scope, denominator, and weighting method. A prompt-run record is not a daily share-of-voice value.

Consider this hypothetical comparison. One tool records 100 prompts across three models on each of seven days: 100 x 3 x 7 = 2,100 prompt-model-day observations. Another reports 100 prompts on one model at a weekly cadence: 100 weekly observations. Their percentages are not directly comparable unless prompt sets, model coverage, cadence, denominator, and weighting are aligned.

Keep engine and model in separate fields. Preserve prompt versions, allow more than one citation per response, and store the raw citation URL alongside any normalized URL. Normalization can support grouping, but it should not erase the source as originally observed. Vendor scores and model weights remain vendor-defined unless the calculation is independently documented.

Repeated tests are useful comparisons, not guarantees of identical answers. Ahrefs says its discovery questions can be derived from People Also Ask data and submitted to web versions of AI chatbots using default models. That is not the same method as fixed-model API testing. Ahrefs also notes that newly added Custom Prompts can take up to 24 hours before response data appears in reports.

Decision point

Save the prompt set, period, engine and model coverage, denominator, and weighting version with every aggregate. When a score changes, those fields show whether the change came from visibility, scope, or calculation rules.

Run a reproducibility pilot before you buy

Use a bounded pilot rather than a feature demonstration. This is editorial guidance, not a vendor requirement or performance benchmark. The input is a small set of real buyer questions, a consistent competitor list, and the regions and languages that matter. The future reporting owner should participate because that person will maintain prompts and explain changes after purchase.

  1. Select 25 priority prompts. Include awareness, comparison, and decision-stage questions. The marketing or SEO owner classifies each prompt and records the competitor set.
  2. Version the definitions. Save exact text, funnel stage, persona, region, language, and effective date. A changed prompt becomes a new version rather than overwriting the old definition.
  3. Set scope and repeat. Configure the same available engines, models, and locale settings, then repeat the prompt set on at least three dates. Record unavailable model or locale controls as gaps.
  4. Inspect the evidence. Where exposed, compare answer text, brand mentions, recommendations, citations, timestamps, and reported aggregates. Missing evidence stays missing; do not infer it from a score.
  5. Test the operating path. Confirm user access, history, reporting destination, and export or API access only where the proposed plan documents them. Assign each unresolved term to a vendor question or internal owner.
  6. Make a pass-or-gap decision. Select only if the tool captures evidence at a useful grain, covers the required engines, and fits a named owner’s reporting routine.
01Define the test setMarketing owner saves 25 versioned prompts, stages, competitors, and target locales.
02Run and repeatUse the same available engine and locale settings on three dates; log scope gaps rather than filling them by assumption.
03Review evidenceCompare exposed responses and citations, then check aggregate definitions and history access.
04Assign the decisionRecord pass, gap, or vendor confirmation needed; the future reporting owner approves the shortlist.

A vendor-neutral data design for prompt and citation evidence

The following is a proposed implementation design, not a schema promised by any vendor. Define one row in prompt_run as one collected result for one prompt version, vendor, engine, model, locale, region, scheduled run, and attempt. A response may have several citation rows. A visibility summary is a separate aggregate over a stated period and scope.

  • prompt_definition: prompt ID and version, exact text, funnel stage, persona, region, language, and effective dates.
  • prompt_run: immutable run ID, prompt ID and version, vendor, project, engine, model if exposed, start and completion times, locale, region, attempt number, collection status, and controlled raw-response reference.
  • citation_observation: one row per citation, linked to a prompt run, with citation ID, ordinal, raw URL, normalized URL, citation type, and domain.
  • visibility_summary: reporting period, prompt scope, engine and model scope, metric, denominator, weighting version, and calculation time.

Here is a hypothetical, compact prompt_run record. It includes the fields needed to distinguish two runs of the same prompt on the same day. source_record_id is optional and should be populated only if the selected vendor documents one.

{
  "prompt_run_id": "internal-run-20261011-014-01",
  "prompt_id": "p-014",
  "prompt_version": 2,
  "vendor": "vendor_name",
  "project_id": "project-01",
  "engine": "engine_name",
  "model": null,
  "locale": "en-US",
  "region": "US",
  "scheduled_run_id": "schedule-20261011-01",
  "attempt_number": 1,
  "run_completed_at": "2026-10-11T14:30:00Z",
  "collection_status": "complete",
  "source_record_id": null
}

Do not deduplicate on brand, prompt, and date alone. That key collides across models, locales, reruns, projects, and attempts. Prefer a documented vendor run ID when available. Otherwise generate an immutable internal event ID and define uniqueness using vendor, project, prompt version, engine, model, locale, region, scheduled run, and attempt. A lookup-then-insert check can race when workers run concurrently. Use a database-enforced unique constraint or transactional upsert, and preserve retries as separate attempts rather than silently overwriting a result.

Use deterministic rules for URL parsing and normalization, required-field checks, period assignment, allowed values, and duplicate detection. AI can optionally classify answer intent or summarize recommendation rationale, but it should not manufacture a missing model, timestamp, citation, or source ID. Keep the original response, classifier method and version, output, and confidence. Send ambiguous or low-confidence cases to a human reviewer.

Turn observations into reporting without overstating the evidence

A practical reporting layer should keep three records separate:

  • Raw observation: one prompt run, its configuration, timestamp, response reference, and citation rows.
  • Reported summary: an aggregate over a stated period, prompt segment, engine and model scope, denominator, and weighting version.
  • CRM event: a separately verified contact, company, opportunity, or deal event with its own timestamp, source, and attribution rules.

For example, a visibility summary may show that a brand appeared in a defined share of answers. That does not prove that a person visited the site, submitted a form, entered the CRM, or created revenue. A citation may support source visibility without proving that the cited page caused a conversion.

Use AI visibility as CRM context, not automatic revenue attribution

AI visibility, AI-referred traffic, AI-influenced conversion, and AI-attributed revenue are different evidence categories. HubSpot states that expanded CRM-connected AEO capabilities are available with Marketing Hub Professional and Enterprise. For other vendors, the sources reviewed do not establish a universal native CRM connector or shared API contract.

A proposed reporting chain is: vendor observation, citation or referral evidence where available, analytics session or conversion, CRM entity, then opportunity and revenue. Treat relationships between these records as correlation unless a documented attribution method supports a stronger conclusion.

Before any CRM write, require the source vendor and reference, observation timestamp, engine and model where exposed, prompt version, confirmed entity match, an allowlisted target field, and human approval for consequential fields. Use AI for bounded interpretation such as intent classification or rationale summarization. Do not let it set lifecycle stage, opportunity value, attribution, or revenue fields.

For CRM governance, see ConsultEvo’s CRM systems services. HubSpot teams can also review HubSpot systems support. These links are relevant to workflow design, not evidence of a connector between a listed visibility tool and a CRM.

Final shortlist: questions to confirm before signing

Keep traditional SEO measurement in place. SEO and AI visibility tools measure different behaviors and evidence. Before buying or expanding a plan, get clear answers for the exact configuration under review.

Procurement gate
  • Are the required engines, models, regions, and locales explicitly included?
  • Can the plan expose the response text, citation URLs, timestamps, and model identifiers needed for analysis?
  • How do prompt edits affect historical comparisons, and how long are records retained?
  • What counts toward prompt, model, project, and run limits?
  • Are export or API access, rate limits, authentication, and retention terms documented for this plan?
  • What is the total price for the required configuration?
  • Who owns prompt maintenance and recurring reports?
  • Are all unknowns assigned to a vendor question or internal owner before purchase?

Choose the tool that passes the pilot for your actual prompt set, engines, evidence requirements, reporting cadence, and operating owner. That is a more reliable shortlist decision than selecting by a headline visibility score.
