Microsoft Teams with ClickUp integration guide
The Microsoft Teams integration with ClickUp lets your team receive task updates, share work in channels, and collaborate without leaving your chat workspace. This guide walks you step by step through enabling the integration, configuring notifications, and using task messages efficiently.
Before you connect Microsoft Teams and ClickUp
Make sure you have everything required to set up the integration smoothly.
- An active Microsoft Teams account with permission to install apps.
- A ClickUp account with access to the Workspace where you want to use Teams.
- Browser access to install the integration from both platforms.

How to install the ClickUp app in Microsoft Teams
To start using the integration, first install the app in your Teams environment.
-
Open Microsoft Teams on the web or desktop.
-
In the left sidebar, click Apps.
-
In the search bar, type ClickUp.
-
Select the ClickUp app from the results.
-
Click Add to install the app for your user in Microsoft Teams.
After installation, Teams will open a ClickUp bot or tab where you can sign in and connect to your Workspace.
Connect your ClickUp Workspace
Once the app is installed, you need to connect it to the right Workspace so that notifications and shared tasks are accurate.
-
In Teams, open the ClickUp app you just added.
-
Click Sign in or Connect when prompted.
-
A browser window opens and takes you to the ClickUp login page.
-
Log in with your ClickUp credentials if you are not already signed in.
-
Select the Workspace you want to connect, then authorize Microsoft Teams to access it.
When authorization is complete, Microsoft Teams and ClickUp are linked, and you can configure notifications for specific Spaces, Folders, or Lists.
Set up ClickUp notifications in Microsoft Teams
You can send task activity from ClickUp into Teams so your team stays informed in real time.
Enable ClickUp notifications per channel
-
In Microsoft Teams, open the channel where you want to receive updates.
-
Click the More options menu (three dots) next to the channel name.
-
Select Connectors or Manage apps, depending on your Teams layout.
-
Find the ClickUp connector or app and choose Configure.
-
Sign in to ClickUp if required and select the Workspace, Space, Folder, or List you want to connect.
-
Choose the types of task events to send to the channel, for example:
- New tasks created
- Status changes
- Comments added
- Assignee changes
-
Save your configuration.
From now on, when an event occurs in the connected location, ClickUp sends a formatted message to your Microsoft Teams channel.
Customize which ClickUp activity appears
To avoid noise, limit notifications to only the activity your team truly needs.
-
Create a dedicated Space or List in ClickUp for high-priority work and connect only that location to Teams.
-
Disable unneeded actions, such as minor field changes, and keep core events like new tasks and status updates.
-
Use multiple Teams channels with different ClickUp locations if separate departments need their own feeds.
Share ClickUp tasks inside Teams channels
The integration makes it easy to bring specific work items into chats so everyone sees the same task details.
Post a ClickUp task to a Teams channel
-
Open the desired channel in Microsoft Teams.
-
In the message box, click the Apps icon or the More actions button below the composer.
-
Select the ClickUp app.
-
Use the search field to find a task by name or ID from your ClickUp Workspace.
-
Select the task to insert a rich card into the conversation.
-
Optionally add context in the message, then click Send.
The task card usually includes task name, status, assignees, and a direct link back to ClickUp so people can open it quickly.
Use ClickUp links in conversations
You can also paste a direct task link from ClickUp into a Teams chat or channel. When supported, Teams will display a preview that helps teammates understand the work item without opening a browser immediately.
-
Copy the task URL from ClickUp.
-
Paste it into any Microsoft Teams message.
-
Send the message so your team can click through when needed.
Manage ClickUp alerts and permissions
Both tools rely on each platform’s existing permissions, so users only see data they are allowed to access.
-
If a member does not belong to a ClickUp Workspace, they cannot open tasks from Teams links in that Workspace.
-
Private tasks or locations in ClickUp remain restricted; Teams only displays what your account can view.
-
Channel notifications show task details based on the user who configured the connector and the Workspace permissions.
You can manage Workspace access and sharing settings directly inside ClickUp to control what is pushed into Teams.
Disable or adjust the ClickUp integration
If you need to pause notifications or remove the connection, you can do so from Microsoft Teams or from your Workspace.
Turn off ClickUp notifications per channel
-
Open the Teams channel where notifications appear.
-
Click the More options menu next to the channel name.
-
Select Connectors or Manage apps.
-
Locate the ClickUp connector or app.
-
Edit the configuration to remove specific Spaces, Folders, or Lists, or delete the connector to stop all alerts.
Remove the ClickUp app from Teams
-
In Microsoft Teams, click Apps in the sidebar.
-
Find ClickUp under Built for your org or Installed apps.
-
Select the app and click Uninstall to remove it.
Removing the app breaks the connection between Teams and your ClickUp Workspace until you install and authorize it again.
