Set Up Google Ads Leads in Zapier

Set Up Google Ads Lead Forms in Zapier

Zapier lets you capture new leads from your Google Ads lead form extensions and send them instantly to your favorite apps without coding. This guide walks you through connecting your Google Ads account, choosing the correct lead form, mapping fields, and testing the trigger so your automation runs reliably.

Follow the steps below to make sure your Google Ads new lead form trigger works as expected and that every lead reaches your connected tools.

Before you start with Zapier

Before you create a Zap that uses the Google Ads New Lead Form Entry trigger, confirm that your Google Ads and lead form settings are ready. The trigger in Zapier can only work when your Google Ads account and assets meet specific requirements set by Google.

  • Use a Google Ads account with lead form extensions or assets already created.
  • Make sure you can access the Google Ads account with the same Google user you will connect to Zapier.
  • Check that you have at least one active lead form asset attached to a campaign or ad group.

Google may require policy approval or additional eligibility checks before your lead form can collect leads. The trigger in Zapier will only receive data once Google Ads is fully approved and your ads start getting valid leads.

You can review the original Google Ads trigger documentation on the Zapier Help Center here: How to set up your Google Ads New Lead Form Entry trigger.

Connect Google Ads to Zapier

The first step is to connect your Google Ads account to Zapier so the platform can read your lead form submissions.

Step 1: Create a new Zap in Zapier

  1. Sign in to your Zapier account.
  2. Click Create and choose New Zap.
  3. In the Trigger search box, type Google Ads and select it.
  4. Choose the trigger event New Lead Form Entry.

This trigger tells Zapier to start your workflow every time a new lead is submitted through the selected Google Ads lead form.

Step 2: Choose or add your Google Ads account

  1. Click Sign in to Google Ads (or select an existing connected account).
  2. Sign in with the Google account that has access to the correct Google Ads profile.
  3. Allow Zapier the requested permissions so it can read your lead forms and leads.

Once connected, Zapier will list the Google Ads accounts available under that Google user. Select the account that owns the lead form asset you want to use.

Select your lead form in Zapier

After connecting Google Ads, configure which specific lead form should trigger your Zap. This ensures that only leads from the right asset start your automation.

Step 3: Pick the Google Ads lead form asset

  1. In the trigger settings, open the Lead Form dropdown.
  2. Zapier will load your active Google Ads lead form assets.
  3. Select the lead form you want to use as the trigger source.

If you do not see your form, check that:

  • The form is active and approved in Google Ads.
  • You selected the correct Google Ads account in Zapier.
  • The lead form is attached to at least one active campaign or ad group.

Once selected, Zapier will use that asset every time it checks for new leads.

Test the Google Ads trigger in Zapier

Testing confirms that Zapier can find real or sample leads from your chosen lead form. This is essential before adding any actions.

Step 4: Generate a test lead in Google Ads

If your lead form has not received any leads yet, you may need to submit a test lead:

  • Use the Google Ads lead form preview to submit a test entry where available.
  • Or run your campaign until you receive at least one real lead.

Without at least one entry, Zapier will not be able to pull sample data during the test step.

Step 5: Run a test in Zapier

  1. Back in your Zap, click Test trigger.
  2. Zapier will attempt to fetch recent leads from the selected Google Ads lead form.
  3. Review the sample record that Zapier displays. It should include the lead’s contact details and all form responses.

If no records appear, confirm that your form has at least one submission and that the correct form is selected. After a successful test, Zapier will use this data to help you map fields in later steps.

Map lead data to your app in Zapier

With a working trigger, the next step is to decide where Zapier should send each new Google Ads lead and how the fields match up.

Step 6: Add an action app

  1. Click + under the trigger step to add an action.
  2. Search for the app where you want to send leads, such as a CRM, email marketing tool, spreadsheet, or help desk.
  3. Choose an action event like Create Contact, Add Subscriber, or Create Row.
  4. Connect the account for that app to Zapier if you have not already.

Using actions, Zapier can automatically save or route your Google Ads leads for follow-up.

Step 7: Map Google Ads lead fields

  1. In the action setup, click into each field where you want to use data from the lead form.
  2. From the dropdown, select the corresponding field that Zapier received from Google Ads, such as name, email, phone, or custom questions.
  3. Repeat for all required and important fields in your destination app.

Careful field mapping ensures that every new lead appears correctly in your connected tools, using the data captured by the Google Ads form and passed through Zapier.

Turn on your Zap in Zapier

After you map your fields and test your actions, you are ready to start collecting leads automatically.

Step 8: Test the full Zap workflow

  1. Click Test or Test & Continue on the action step.
  2. Zapier sends the sample lead through your action app.
  3. Open the destination app and confirm the test record looks correct.

If something is missing or misaligned, adjust your field mappings in the action step and test again.

Step 9: Publish and monitor your Zap

  1. When everything looks good, click Publish or turn your Zap On.
  2. Zapier will now monitor your Google Ads lead form for new submissions.
  3. Each new lead will automatically run through your Zap and into the connected apps.

You can monitor task history in Zapier to confirm that leads are processing successfully. If errors appear, check the error message, verify your app connections, and ensure the Google Ads lead form has not changed structure.

Troubleshooting Google Ads leads in Zapier

If leads are not appearing in your connected apps through Zapier, work through these checks.

  • Confirm the correct Google Ads account and lead form asset are selected.
  • Verify that your lead form is approved, active, and attached to a running campaign.
  • Make sure at least one lead has been submitted after you turned the Zap on.
  • Check that required fields in your action app are mapped from existing form fields.
  • Review your Zap run or task history for any reported errors.

You may also want to periodically review your form questions in Google Ads. If you add or remove fields, revisit your Zapier field mappings so they stay aligned with the latest form version.
